My first half marathon - 17th Jan 2010

It was 6.45 am when i reached the MMRDA grounds (mumbai) to run my first Half marathon. Man, i was excited and wanted to complete the first longest race of my life. I had decided to do run as long as i can in my first strech before i walk a bit.

The route of the Half marathon was nice this time, which started from MMRDA grounds, Bandra going on Worli sea link, Marine drive and ending at Azad grounds (VT Station).

Neha had come to the starting point with me.

I started off at around 6.50 or so (being at the pretty last in the start order), it was difficult to pass many people as it was too crowded. There were estimated 10000+ people running Half marathon this year(male & female).

The Sea link was about 2 ~ 3 kms from the starting point, and it was fun to run on a great engineering marvel in India. The sad part was that there was no provision of any water bottle/medical point on the whole of the Worli sea-link. The first was at 2km checkpoint, and the next was at 8km.

I managed to run for about 16kms flat out, but then i was getting tired( it was the max i had run even in my practice runs). I walked for about 200 mtrs and begin running again. I ran for another km and walked 500mt . It was already 18km checkpoint that i had crossed, and i was really tired. I wanted to this race to end, but then my Ipod started playing "The Who- We wont get fooled again", and the solo at the end just began playing. Pete Townshend's "yeahhhhhhhhhhh" was my motivating factor. I began running again thinking that there's no stopping now, just 3 km more to go. I was running at a very slow pace, but i was just saving energy to run the last sprint.
Last 500mts and i began running at a fast pace, even though i couldn't feel any energy left. I ran till the finish , and yea "i did it".

I check my Ipod lap timing and it clocked 2hrs 42 mins.

Not bad for a first time runner. The funny part was that about 20mins later, the Full Marathon had finished :D ( winner clocking 2hrs 12 mins)

Some of my marathon pics

The official clock timing is ; 2hrs 42 mins 52 sec

More running to follow.
till then,
"Its never too hot, its never too cold. You are never too tired, never too busy. Put on your shoes and RUN!"

Trip 2009 - Dandeli - Hampi

Mas breaks...Wat to do? where to go?The planning of the trip began in november as we had leaves in the last week of december (yay Symantec:D ). We did many hours of route planning in google maps, did research on places to go. Earlier it was planned to go to Pune - Nagarhole - Banglore - Pune, but then it would have been too hectic as we planned to stay in B'lore for 3 days. Finally we choose "Dandeli" as the place to go... but 5 days there... naa, we need to add another destination to our itinerary.

One "travel Advisor" of mine suggested Hampi and Badami Caves & it was just 250 kms from Dandeli. So Hampi added as the 2nd destination to our trip and we are good to go.

We began looking for places to stay and everything was full. Finally, we found some place by "Karnataka Forest Department" at a whooping price of Rs 500 per night (deluxe Tents).
In Hampi we booked a hotel by KSTDC - Mauraya Bhuvneshwari.
All set and done, now was the time for bike preparations and gear purchasing for my ardhangani :)

Dream Route # 1

Well its one of our dream to travel across india, the upper half has been explored, the bottom part is yet to be explored by both of us.

Our plan would be to travel from Mumbai to Kanyakumari but it depends whichever of 3000kms or 12 days finish first.
Ideally we would have like to have it done on our bullet, but being on road is what that matters.

First pit would start off with a splashhhhh at the beautiful beaches of Harihareshwar & Ratnagiri.
We believe that no journey is complete without a bash in Goaaaaa.
Next we head to Dandeli, which is famous for its water adventure sports. Having spent a day with all water around we head next to Hampi, where the dreams are carved in stone, via Badami, famous for its temples of Aihole.

Spending a night in the Imperial City of Palaces, Mysore wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Next pit stop would be a Safari at Bandipur National Park. I guess taking one day break would be relaxing after being on road for 6 days, after all its not a race.

We cross borders into "The Gods Own Country" - Kerala and reach Pallakad to eat something and then move for some backwaters at Kumarakom.
Fresh tea at Munnar after such a long drive would be great, so we plan to halt at Munnar overnight and enjoy the hill station.

We return via a different route

Rider Mania 2008 - Ramoji Film City Hyderabad

Rider Mania Banner

16th Jan 08
Destination Solarpur : around 250 kms from Pune.
Started around 5.30 from Pune towards Solapur, where all the Roadshakers and Indiethumppers were going to rest. The road was good for around 40-50 kms and then it turned into a typical national highway types. It was getting dark and i hadnt slept properly last day coz i wanted to complete my freaking work. My PM didnt knew that i was going for a Bullet ride and not to my home or some personal work :D

I was riding leisurely at 70-80kmph. Didnt wanna push it hard at night when you cant see the road. The worst part of the oncoming traffic was the ST buses, bloody then dnt give a fuck if you are a 2 wheeler, "Get off the damn road. Fuck you" is what the message you get form them.

On my breaks, everyone was curious as to where are all so many bullets going. (Few or rather around 80 bullets had already reached solapur)
Reached solapur at around 11 taking only one dinner break and one tea break.
Regrouped with the Roadshakers, and slept.
Saw that 2 bikes had a breakdown, one met with an accident and broke the forks, other with a floating bush breakdown.

17th Jan:
Destination Hyderabad : around 300kms from Solapur

The Day started and we all got up to meet the Indiethummpers at the required point.
Riders waiting to startoff from Solapur

The target was to reach hyderabad and have 'Hyderabadi Birayani' by lunch time. With 100 odd bikes... are you freakin kidding man????

Anyways we started off our engines, rode on to get our tanks filled (stomach included). On the way, someones silencer fell off and he didnt knew till a person riding behind him told him so :). Apprarently the joint's welding broke and the nut went missing, but nothing to fear when Baljeet is here, he had some spare nuts which he put on and fitted the silencer for the time being.

We rode for another 200kms, me being the last of the lots :D and reached Kamat.
I started off solo from there and covered another 50 kms and there were all the roadshakers and indiethumppers waiting for their laggards.

We stopped for about 2hrs doing nothing except for chatting and resting.
Started off from there at around 5 and hardly i had gone 10kms when someone stopped me sayin that his bikes' got some problem. he stopped the people coming from behind and luckily our Pickup van was leading the pack and was way ahead :)

So we asked some people to go and catchup with the van and ask it to return.
We waited and waited for the van to come but it didnt, so we loaded the bullet up on a truck...Fuck man it was heavy, it took about 6 ppl to climb it up :D

From there i went on to Hi-Tech city hyderabad, where as all these people wnt to Ramoji Film city.

Met Koshi, Johri and Das and had dinner and chatted.

18th Jan - Day 1 of the Rider Mania.
Destination : Ramoji Film City, around 65kms frm Koshi's place

Koshi at Ramoji Film City Banner

Me at the Film City Gate

The Film city was freaking huge... Koshi told me that it does have some record for being the largest film city.

We are here!

We reached the venue and got our selves registered, unpacked and went on to enjoy the party and have a great time . All fellow riders from all the places of India.

Delhi - Royal Beasts
Pune - Roadshakers
Mumbai - IndieThummpers
Bangalore - RTMC
Chennai - Madbulls
Hyderabad - Wanderers (The amazing Hosts)
Calcutta - Eastern Bulls
Gujrat

So Many Bullets

The schedule of the event was as follows :
The Schedule

In DJ - BlackJack was freaking amazing, playin all Rock numbers and making us have a damn good time.

At night after the Arm Wrestling, the figure of Eight, Assembly war, we had a rock show organized inside the Main Ramoji film city.

We had a great time and we were flying high so it was even a better view from the top ;)

19th Jan - Day 2 of Rider Mania

Day 2 started late with the usual hangovers and late sleep, but once all were down we were to go on a Film City ride and towards the dirt track.

Before the ride , this beaty came in and everyone was astonished to see an Indian Chief in such a great condition.
This beaty or a beast rather has a 1200cc engine...and guess the Year : 1946
